Remembering Cameron Strauss of Zainesville Ohio

This is to remember Beloved Cameron Strauss who passed away last year May 28th 2018.

About 200 individuals walked 400 meters at West Muskingum High School Tuesday evening. That was the length of a race that Cameron Strauss won during the 2017 Muskingum Valley League track meet.

Few escaped tears as they walked in memory of Cameron, who took his life Monday, May 28.

West Muskingum track coach Michele Shirer shares memories with teammates of the late Cameron Strauss during a lap around the West Muskingum High School track in Strauss’ honor on Tuesday. Hundreds attended a vigil for Strauss, a 2017 graduate of West Muskingum.

Blackstone-Shirer gathered everyone in the center of the West Muskingum football field to remember her former track star.

“I want to start by saying you matter,” Blackstone-Shirer said. “Every single one of you here, you matter. You matter to your mom, you matter to your dad, you matter to your dog, you matter to me.”

Strauss was a 2017 graduate of West Muskingum High School.

As a senior, he won the 400 meter race and anchored the second-place 800 and 1,600 relays. He went on to qualify for the regional meet in the 400 and the 1,600 relay. Source
